                You and I,
            by and by,
        are quite
    alike.
        I can hear
            your cheers,
                your tears,
                    but we're
                nowhere near
            common ground.
        The only sound
    around
is so loud,
    it's deafening,
        threatening --
            a simple thing! --
                to break our minds
                    and draw a line
                we can't define
            with just our eyes.
        A soothing creak,
            a rock-to-sleep
                before we meet
                    that's so discreet
                        we fail to see it.
                    we're breathing in
                subtle notions --
            air rotation

        that we believed

    could relieve


the tension.
